Sockprints Cares: Celebrating National Adopt-a-Dog Month
Did you know that October is National Adopt-a-Dog Month? 🐶
We did!
Sockprints loves animals (I mean, have you seen our print-to-order dog and cat face socks?), and we’re excited to celebrate National Adopt-a-Dog Month with a special blog on pet adoption.
Why pets?
While it is technically Adopt-a-DOG month, since National Cat Day is this month, we’re going to include our feline friends, too! 🐱
Pets have been shown to have numerous emotional and physical health benefits—with the CDC sharing that adopting a pet can help lower blood pressure, cholesterol, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. If you’re completely healthy, pets still help by increasing opportunities for exercise and socialization.
As a bonus, when you adopt pets from a local shelter, you’re helping them, too, by rescuing them from abusive families or a life on the street. It’s a win-win!
Sockprints and pets
At Sockprints, we’re two crazy soccer moms—and we’re crazy pet moms, too!
That’s why Sockprints supports Pets for Vets and their mission to match shelter and rescue animals with veterans in need of a companion pet. (Awwwww 💕!) To date, Pets for Vets has matched over 600 veterans with a furry friend with great results. As one vet shares:
“You would think that a dog is just a dog. That may be true for some, but not me. I used to sit at home, alone, and just let life pass me by, but now I have a reason to get up. Even if it’s feeding Samson, or taking him for walks, he has motivated me to live again.”
With every purchase from our custom pet photo socks, Sockprints donates a portion of the profits to Pets for Vets to ensure more of these matches are made. You can help by looking for the Pets for Vets paw print on pet product pages, and knowing that these purchases will help support animals and veterans in need.
