Spotlights on love

June is also home to National Loving Day, a day commemorating the legalization of interracial marriages in the U.S. in 1967. 💕

The national legalization of interracial marriages was the result of a supreme court case in favor of Richard and Mildred Loving, two childhood friends that eventually fell in love and married (awwwwww 🥰), only to be arrested two weeks later for interracially marrying. 🤨The day became holiday in 2004 when Ken Tanabe, the son of an interracial Japanese and Belgian marriage, campaigned for the holiday to help celebrate multiracial marriages.
