Behind the Seams: (Throw)Back to School Edition

This is an image of a group of girls posing and wearing the sorority Alpha Phi knee high custom printed socks.

Summer, you’ve been good to us, but it’s time to get back into the swing of things. As universities across the country start fall classes, we’re reminded of the good ol’ college days filled with studying at the library, tailgating at football games, and commuting to campus.

For some of the sockprints family, a huge part of their college experience was being a part of a sorority. Each found a space that truly reflected a “home away from home.” To commemorate those cherished memories, we are throwing it back (to school) with a quick spotlight on some of the team’s sororities.

Delta Zeta

From Auburn University, sockprints’ Customer Relations & Production Fulfillment Coordinator, Kim, is a proud sister of the Delta Zeta (ΔΖ), Beta Xi Chapter.

Delta Zeta is an international college sorority founded on October 24, 1902, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Today, the sorority has 160 active collegiate chapters in the United States and Canada, and over 200 alumnae chapters around the globe. Their mission is to “inspire, promote, and nurture: enduring friendships personal development, leadership excellence [and] innovative growth.”

Learn more about the sorority by visiting the Delta Zeta website. Don’t forget to check out our selection of licensed Delta Zeta custom printed socks, too!

Kappa Kappa Gamma

Sara, sockprints’ Community Relations & Production Fulfillment Coordinator, fights on as a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma’s (ΚΚΓ) Delta Tau chapter of the University of Southern California.

Kappa Kappa Gamma was formed as a women’s fraternity on October 13, 1870 at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois - years before the word “sorority” would even be introduced. With 140 collegiate chapters in the United States and Canada and 307 alumnae associations worldwide, KKG has a total membership of over 260,000 women. Notably, Kappa Kappa Gamma offers “a member experience ranging from friendship to mentoring, from leadership to service and from campus activities to a lifetime of community involvement.”

Find out more information about Kappa Kappa Gamma on the official website. For fall recruitment, fundraising, and/or events, we have a variety of Kappa Kappa Gamma custom printed socks on the sockprints website.

Alpha Chi Omega

Spending her undergraduate years at the University of Utah, not only is sockprints' Co-Founder, Hayley, a sister of Alpha Chi Omega’s (ΑΧΩ) Beta Nu chapter, but she was also their Chapter President!

Similar to the foundation of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Chi Omega was founded as a women's fraternity on October 15, 1885 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Currently, 193 chapters are represented throughout colleges and universities across the nation, and the initiated member count exceeds more than 230,000 women throughout its impressive 132-year history. The Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity is “devoted to enriching the lives of members through lifetime opportunities of friendship, leadership, learning and service.”

Alpha Xi Delta

Last but not least, sockprints' team member, Cassidy, is an alumnae of Alpha Xi Delta’s (ΑΞΔ) Theta Beta chapter at Sonoma State University.

Founded in 1893 at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois, Alpha Xi Delta is one of the oldest women’s fraternal organizations in the United States. Interestingly, according to its constitution, it is also one of the few social sororities that will accept graduate students in addition to undergraduate students. Over time, the sorority has maintained 130+ active chapters, resulting in 185,000+ initiated sisters. Alpha Xi Delta’s mission is to “inspire women to reach their potential.”

Regardless of affiliation, we are extremely thankful to have such an amazing group of hardworking women on the team. Although we only mentioned the four sororities above, we are a licensed vendor for all 26 sororities in the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Check out our selection of Big and Little custom printed socks or find your sorority on the Greek section of our website. Best of luck this recruitment season!
